All students in kindergarten and second grade who attend a Saint Paul Public School will take the Naglieri Non-verbal Ability Test (NNAT).
The school district has set the dates and registration deadlines to begin the process of identifying students in grades K-5 who qualify for gifted services
in Saint Paul Public Schools. Gifted Services provide challenging and
fast-paced learning programs for students who have the ability to do
work at a level above what is expected at their grade.
Parents of students in grades
1, 3, 4 and 5 should talk to their child’s teacher at fall conferences
to discuss whether their child may need gifted services based
on high test scores or outstanding school work. Nov. 30, 2007 is the
deadline for deciding which students in SPPS will take the test in January
2008.
Students will take the NNAT Jan. 7-10, 2008. Your
child's school will inform you of the exact date your student will take
the test. Parents of students taking the NNAT will receive final
results of the test before the school choice deadline on March 14, 2008.
Students
who have previously qualifying gifted services are
not affected by this test and will continue to receive services.
