Dates Set For Identification For Gifted Services
The school district has set the dates and registration deadlines for the test used to identify students in grades K-5 who qualify for gifted services in Saint Paul Public Schools. NNAT2 testing will be held a month earlier this year and will be administered in December.  Saint Paul Public Schools offers the NNAT2 for G/T identification once a year.  Gifted Services provide challenging and fast-paced learning programs for students who have the ability to do work at a level above what is expected at their grade.

All SPPS students in kindergarten and second grade will take the Naglieri Non-verbal Ability Test, second edition (NNAT2). Parents of students in grades 1, 3, 4 and 5 should talk to their child’s teacher at fall conferences to discuss whether their child may need gifted services based on high test scores or outstanding school work. Nov. 2, 2009 is the deadline for deciding which students in SPPS will take the test in December 2009.

Students will take the NNAT2 December 1-8, 2009. Your child's school will inform you of the exact date your student will take the test. Parents of students taking the NNAT2 will receive final results of the test before the school choice deadline.

Students who have previously qualifying gifted services are not affected by this test and will continue to receive services.
