| Gifted Services Goals and Focus |  | To provide administrative and visionary leadership, staff support and training for the district’s Gifted Services programs:
- Ensure consistent district-wide Gifted Services through research
based identification, programming and curriculum models at all levels.
- Encourage and support a seamless and continuous program of services K-12.
- Expand the notion of gifts as expressed within multiple cultures
and support incorporating those expressions into the academic program.
- Support SPPS students in their efforts to gain acceptance to
advanced level programs; recommend programs and effective practices to
support students in their post-secondary education.
- Define the levels of knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed
to meet the needs of gifted students based on roles and
responsibilities (classroom teachers/resource
teachers/counselors). Provide district-wide training and
consulting to help staff attain those competencies.
- Study existing identification data to identify effective
practices and recommend new procedures to locate and provide services
to underrepresented gifted students.
Gifted Services supports Essential Effort 2D and all SPPS School Reform Initiatives.
